Audio & Video Volume Booster

Boost the volume of your audio and video files from 0% up to 500%. Preview the result live in your browser, then download a genuinely processed file with the volume applied. No uploads, no sign-up, no watermark.

Audio and video volume booster tool

Private by design. Files are read, previewed and processed entirely in your browser using the Web Audio API and FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or logged anywhere.

Watch out for distortion. Boosting above 100% can cause clipping, distortion and amplified background noise. Use the optional clipping protection or keep the boost modest for best results.

Boost audio and video volume up to 500% with a live preview, then download the processed file.

How to use the volume booster

  1. Upload a file. Drag an audio or video file onto the drop zone, or click Choose file. Files must be between 1 KB and 100 MB.
  2. Preview the result. Use the media player and press Preview to hear the boosted audio in real time.
  3. Adjust the volume. Drag the slider from 0% to 500%, or click a preset (50%, 100%, 150%, 200%, 300%, 500%).
  4. Choose options. Keep clipping protection on for cleaner output, and leave video quality preservation on to avoid re-encoding the video track.
  5. Apply and preview. Click Apply & download. When processing finishes, the preview switches to the actual processed file so you can listen before downloading.

Key features and benefits

Up to 500% boost

Raise audio from muted to five times the original volume, with one-click presets for the most common levels.

Live audio preview

Hear exactly what the boosted audio will sound like before you download anything, using the Web Audio API.

Real video support

Boost the audio track of MP4, WebM, MOV and MKV files while preserving the video itself, untouched.

Clipping protection

An optional limiter caps peaks at the maximum safe level so boosted audio stays clean instead of distorting.

Fully private

Files are decoded and processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or logged anywhere.

Responsive layout

Comfortable on phones, tablets and desktops, with the same clean TempScript design throughout.

Supported formats

Input support depends on what your browser can decode. Video output uses FFmpeg.wasm for accurate processing while preserving the video track.

Type Formats Preview Export
Audio .mp3, .wav, .m4a, .ogg, .opus, .flac Yes Yes (same or converted)
Video .mp4, .webm, .mov, .mkv Yes Yes (video preserved)

If your browser cannot decode a format, an error is shown with an explanation. Try converting to MP3 or MP4 first.

Privacy and limitations

  • Fully client-side. Files are read via the File API, decoded with the Web Audio API for preview, and processed with FFmpeg.wasm for export. Nothing is uploaded to any server.
  • No tracking. The tool does not record which files you load or what settings you choose. There is no analytics on your media.
  • FFmpeg is downloaded once. The first time you export a file, FFmpeg.wasm is fetched from a CDN and cached by your browser. Later exports load from the cache.
  • Distortion at very high boosts. Pushing volume far above 100% will amplify noise and clip quiet peaks. Clipping protection helps but cannot recover detail that was never in the source.
  • Memory limits. Files up to 100 MB work on most modern devices. Very large files may be slow or may run out of memory on low-end phones.
  • Video quality preserved. When "Preserve video quality" is on, the video track is copied as-is and only the audio is re-encoded. This keeps the video pixel-identical to the original.

Frequently asked questions

Is this volume booster free?
Yes. The Audio & Video Volume Booster is completely free, requires no account, and produces a genuine processed file without any watermark.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Audio and video files are read, previewed and processed entirely in your browser using the Web Audio API and FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or logged anywhere.
How much can I boost the volume?
You can boost from 0% (mute) up to 500% of the original volume. Presets at 50%, 100%, 150%, 200%, 300% and 500% let you jump to common levels quickly.
Will boosting the volume cause distortion?
At very high boosts, yes. Audio can clip, distort, or amplify background noise. The tool warns you clearly and offers optional clipping protection so peaks do not exceed the maximum safe level.
Which formats are supported?
Audio: MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, Opus and FLAC. Video: MP4, WebM, MOV and MKV. The actual formats you can load depend on what your browser can decode, and video exports depend on the FFmpeg engine.
What is the maximum file size?
Each file must be at least 1 KB and at most 100 MB. Larger files may exceed browser memory or take too long to process.

A practical guide to boosting audio and video volume

Not every recording comes out at a comfortable listening level. A lecture captured on a phone can be too quiet to play in a room, a video call can come through muffled, and a downloaded song can simply be mastered at a lower volume than the rest of your library. A dedicated volume booster lets you raise the level without needing a full audio editor.

How volume boosting works

Every audio file is a series of samples, each representing the amplitude of the sound at a moment in time. Boosting the volume multiplies each sample by a factor — 200% boost means every sample is multiplied by two. This is a simple, fast operation, but it has one important consequence: samples can only go so high before they exceed the maximum amplitude the format can represent, which is called clipping. Clipping produces a harsh, distorted sound, especially in loud passages.

Why clipping protection matters

A limiter is a small algorithm that watches for peaks that would clip and pulls them down just enough to fit. The result is a louder overall signal without the harsh edges of raw clipping. When clipping protection is on in this tool, the boosted audio is passed through a limiter before it is encoded, so the output stays clean even at 300% and 500% boosts. When it is off, the raw multiplier is applied — useful for analysing very quiet audio, but risky for anything with existing loud peaks.

Boosting the audio of a video

For video files, the audio track is separated from the video track and boosted independently. The video track is left untouched — the same frames, the same pixel data, the same duration. Only the audio is re-encoded with the new volume. This keeps the video quality identical while giving you the louder sound you asked for. Synchronisation is preserved because the audio sample count does not change; only the amplitude of each sample does.

When boosting does not help

  • Noisy recordings. Raising the volume also raises background noise, hiss, and room echo. If the source is noisy, louder audio is often worse audio.
  • Already-loud files. Boosting a file that already peaks at the maximum level will clip, even with a limiter, because there is no headroom left to work with.
  • Lossy formats. MP3 and AAC discard quiet details the first time they are encoded. Boosting can make those missing details more noticeable.
